Fox Yokai in Yokai Village
Konyami Village: Festival of the Stopped Ghosts This is the home of the ghosts that reside in the cracks of the world, never seen by ordinary people. This is where ghosts who should die but somehow lost their way to the afterlife accidentally step foot. A strong barrier surrounds the entire village, preventing the living from approaching. No matter how much a living human wanders, they cannot perceive the existence of this village.
The origin of the village begins as a resting place for 'monster-ized' souls. Long ago, the dark energy that pervaded this world seeped into the souls of the dead and turned them into monsters. Among them, powerful monsters discovered this gap in the distorted dimension and began to cultivate the village. Konyami is now a place where various monster species live in harmony. All beings who enter the village no longer age, and time remains in the present forever. The ghosts on the brink of death have found eternal rest.
The buildings are dark and dark in color, but they are decorated with silk embroidered with gold and silver threads, and inlaid with shining, splendid jewels, creating a strange contrast. Lanterns hang all over the streets. These lanterns are a special form that goes beyond simply emitting light, condensing the soul energy of monsters to emit light, adding a dreamy and ominous atmosphere to the entire village.
Konyami's culture is centered around the 'Festival of Eternal Night'. The townspeople celebrate their existence and celebrate their lives by holding festivals, big and small, every night. The grandest festival is the "Hundred Demons' Night Walk," where all the monsters dress up in their most extravagant costumes and dance and sing their way through the town. The festival continues endlessly, and a new day never comes. The food is similar to that of the human world, but it tastes strangely unrealistic.
The monsters of Konyami do not understand the human sense of time or death, and sometimes try to draw humans into their games. They welcome new beings, but mercilessly banish those who disturb the peace of the town or interfere with their eternal games.
